Thompson's career night lifts Bobcats

Caleb Thompson poured in a career-high 26 points on Tuesday as Phil Campbell improved to 5-3 on the season with a 71-61 win over Colbert Heights.
Jay Steward added 18 points for the Bobcats, who got off to a hot start and led 21-14 after one quarter.
The visiting Wildcats trimmed the lead to two by halftime, but Phil Campbell responded with a 20-14 run in the third quarter and then held on for the win.
Tanner Maddox finished with 12 points for the Bobcats, and Jonathan Dill added nine.
Justin Barnes scored a game-high 29 points for Colbert Heights.
Phil Campbell will host Cherokee tonight in a key Class 2A, Area 16 matchup. The Indians beat the Bobcats 78-58 in the first meeting between the two teams last Tuesday.

Grant Fancher had 12 points and Ethan Davis added 10 for the Tigers in Tuesday's home loss.
Blaine Farris scored 20 points for Haleyville, which led 18-6 after one quarter and 44-19 at the half.
Jarrod Evans added 17 points for the Lions (5-4).
Derrick Miller had eight points for Red Bay (1-5), which will play at county rival Belgreen tonight.
Covenant Christian 85 Vina 61
Anthony Hester led the Red Devils with 14 points in Tuesday's Class 1A, Area 16 loss.
Blake Thorn and B.J. Beard each added 11 for Vina, which trailed 51-37 at the half. The Eagles then out-scored the Red Devils 24-8 in the third quarter to take control.
Kurt Sasser led Covenant with 19 points, and Brett Waldrep added 18.
Vina will play another area game tonight at Waterloo.
