A local women's group will host their annual Breakfast with Santa and Characters Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8 to 11 a.m., at the A.W. Todd Center.
The Potpourri Study Club has hosted the breakfast event for many years to benefit the Russellville city, RES and WES libraries, and will fund a scholarship for a RHS student and a county student.
Last year, the club raised $350 for the Russellville Public Library, and funded two $250 scholarships, Tracie Thompson, club president, said.
"We want to be able to offer more scholarship money and more funds for the local library," Thompson said.
This year's event will include breakfast, and entertainment.
Children will also have the chance to have their picture made with Santa Claus.
Addie Pickett, Shannon Knight, North Alabama Twirlers and other live performances will provide entertainment. Spiderman, Batman, Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake and others will also make guest appearances said Tessa Rushing, Potpourri club member.
Games and door prizes are also part of the event.
Advance tickets are $5 each or can be purchased for $6 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased at West Elementary School between 3 and 3:30 p.m., Citizen' Bank, Russellville Library, First Metro Bank, Alabama Central Credit Union or from any Potpourri member.
