The American Red Cross closed the last of three local emergency shelters Friday as people began returning home to assess damage to their property, according to Jonathan Wells, a Red Cross volunteer.
Wells said the Southern Disaster Relief will cook lunch today for those who are still without power. Red Cross volunteers will serve lunch in the parking lot of Rush Foundation Hospital.
Emergency response vehicles from Lauderdale County, Hattiesburg and Columbus are planning to drive around Lauderdale County today to feed families.
