Carol Mabry was among a delegation of red-coated state Republican women who planned to meet with state legislators today in Jackson.
Mabry's visit was part of the Mississippi Federation of Republican Women's annual legislative day, in which members wear their red coats so they can easily be seen in the state Capitol.
Mabry, of Newton, the organization's secretary, said members planned to push for voter identification requirements.
Members planned to lobby lawmakers this morning. Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck was scheduled to speak to the GOP women at a luncheon at a Jackson hotel.
Mabry said the luncheon would focus on the No Child Left Behind Act. The act, signed by President Bush last month, calls for sweeping reforms in elementary and secondary education.
