Robinson seeks fourth House term

By By William F. West / community editor
Feb. 4, 2003
State Rep. Eric Robinson will seek a fourth term in the Mississippi House of Representatives.
Robinson represents District 84, which includes parts of Clarke, Lauderdale, Newton and Jasper counties. Before legislative redistricting, the district had most of Clarke and much of Lauderdale counties.
Robinson, 53, is a former longtime insurance agent and a former longtime Quitman alderman. He first ran for the Legislature in 1987 as a Democrat, but lost to then incumbent Rep. Roy Dabbs.
Robinson ran as a Republican and won election to the job following redistricting in the early 1990s, but he said he had to get past a Democrat and two independents first.
He said he won re-election by defeating an independent; he won a third time by beating a Republican and a Democrat. Robinson said he believes he won because he promised voters he would not forget them in Jackson.
