The middle of next week will be devoted to heart checks at Jeff Anderson Health &Fitness Center.
Appointments are required for blood pressure, cholesterol and weight screenings that will take place 7 a.m.-10 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Ann Weddington, head of marketing for Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, said many people take advantage of the free screenings for their annual cholesterol check up.
Anyone who plans to take advantage of the free screenings should fast at least 10 to 12 hours before their appointment, said Marilyn Bell, assistant lab manager of Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Bell said results of the screenings will be mailed to participants within two weeks as well as a recommendation whether they should see their doctor for a follow-up visit.
Besides the blood pressure, cholesterol and weight screenings, the hospital also has scheduled Heart Healthy Cooking Classes for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 and 17. Registered dietitian Sky Joiner will teach participants how to make healthy dishes.
Reservations are required for the classes.
