    OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2001

    JOSEPH FRANKLIN DEARMAN
    QUITMAN Services for Joseph Franklin Dearman will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Irby and Charles Kottenbrook officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery.
    Mr. Dearman, 64, of Quitman, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include his wife, Lessie Dearman, a daughter, Dorothy Ann Dearman, a son, Carley Franklin Dearman and a brother, Mallie Dearman Jr., all of Quitman; three sisters, Flosie Robinson, Dot Robinson and Edna Reynolds, all of Meridian; and four grandchildren.
    JOHNNY WEBSTER MCMILLAN
    Retired underwriter for Mutual of New York Insurance
    NEWTON Services for Johnny Webster McMillan will be held today at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Cain officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
    Mr. McMillan, 86, of Newton, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in his home. He was a native of the Fellowship Community in Jasper County. Mr. McMillan was a member of Newton United Methodist Church and the Newton Lions Club for over 55 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and on the Newton Municipal School District Board for many years. He worked for Buckley Brothers Wholesale Grocery Company for over 40 years.
    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mattie Grace Boutwell McMillan of Newton; two daughters, Lynn Kenny and her husband, John, of San Antonio, Texas, and Susan Andruskevich and her husband, Tom, of New York, N.Y.; a son, Rusty McMillan and his wife, Ginger, of Newton; three grandchildren, Taylor Webb McMillan, Alexander Andruskevich and Landry McMillan.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Webster McMillan, a brother and six sisters.
    The family requests memorials be made to Newton Lions Club Sight Fund or the Newton United Methodist Church Capitol Improvements Fund.
    Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, John Currie Knight, Scott Hamrick, Stan Williams, Jack Williams, Dennis Chatham, Gene Chatham, Joey McLeod and Al Chadick.
    Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wesley Men's Sunday School class.
    FREDERICK WALTER SMITH
    GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Frederick Walter Smith will be held today at 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mosley Cemetery.
    Mr. Smith, 52, of Gilbertown, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Meridian.
    Survivors include his mother, Vera Nell Carlisle of Thomasville; a brother, Mickey Smith of Selma; four sisters, Sandra Pugh of Jackson, Miss., Bonnie Parten of Thomasville, Wanda Downs of Peterman and Pat Reed of Silas.
    The family requests memorials be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, 5000 Hwy. 39 North, Meridian, MS 39301.
    ERVENE G. HUDNALL
    Services for Ervene G. Hudnall will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Big Oak Methodist Church, with the Revs. David Keller and Ray Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Hudnall, 90, of DeKalb, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include three sisters, Evelyne Jolly of Collinsville, Frances Warren of Philadelphia and Margaret Harbour of DeKalb; two brothers, Herman Galloway of Yazoo City and Gerald Galloway of DeKalb; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hudnall.
    Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    FRANK MARZINE JONES
    UNION Services for Frank Marzine Jones will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Rusty Walton and Clifton Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
    Mr. Jones, 67, of Little Rock, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in his home. He was a veteran of World War II.
    Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Russell of Little Rock; a son, Bobby Ray Hitt of Philadelphia; four sisters, Ruth Rigdon, Sadie Clearman, Gladys Watson and Grace Hand, all of Little Rock; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Jones and a brother, Dub Jones.
    Visitation will be today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    JOHN B. SANDERS
    Stonewall Post Office employee
    Services for John B. Sanders will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at East Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. David Bush officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Sanders, 65, of Stonewall, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Stonewall.
    Survivors include a son, John Sanders Jr. of New Brunswick, N.J.; two daughters, Johnnie Delois Bender of Rose Hill and Kim Sanders of New Brunswick; a sister, Vera D. Riley of Quitman; and five grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Quitman.
    DR. SLAYTON ALVIN EVANS JR.
    CHAPEL HILL, N.C. A memorial service for Dr. Slayton Alvin Evans Jr. will be held Sunday, April 1, at Community Church of Chapel Hill. Fellowship will be held following the service. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is in charge of arrangements.
    Dr. Evans, 57, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday, March 24, 2001. He was raised in Meridian, Miss., and was employed as professor of chemistry with the University of North Carolina since 1974. He was a member of Community Church of Chapel Hill.
    Survivors include his wife, Helen C. Evans; his mother, Corine M. Evans; a son, Slayton A. Evans III; a daughter, Amy Rebecca Evans; a brother, Albert Evans; a sister, Patricia Dillard; and five stepdaughters, Rachel, Erin, Becky, Mary and Sarah.
    The family requests memorials be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 Martin Luther King Parkway, Suite 112, Durham, NC 27707.
    ROSIE MITCHELL
    Services for Rosie Mitchell will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel.
    Ms. Mitchell, 74, of Meridian died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in her home.
    Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    RUTH B. NICKERSON
    Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Ruth B. Nickerson, 73, of Meridian, who died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
