$4K grant to buy fire jackets

PHIL CAMPBELL — The town has received a $4,000 grant to replace two fire department jackets damaged in a fire.

Mayor Greg Williams said the jackets cost $2,005 each.

“We got a grant from Franklin County Community Development Commission for $4,000, and we had to spend $10 with that to get the jackets,” Williams said.

Fire Chief Andy Marbutt said the replacement jackets have already been ordered.

“They’re in the process of being manufactured and should be here within the next three to four weeks,” Marbutt said during councilmembers during their March 17 meeting.

The town also has a 20-foot storage container for the fire department on order.

Williams said the container cost $2,541.50 and is expected to be delivered March 25.
