Vina man may have his bond revoked after messaging a minor

RUSSELLVILLE — A Vina man, who was arrested and charged in 2024 with electronic solicitation of a child, could have his bond revoked after allegedly texting a 16-year-old.

Jonathan Randall Lowery, who is also known as Randy Lowery, voluntarily turned himself into the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday afternoon after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.

“[An] anonymous person alerted us to the possibility [he was messaging a minor],” Sgt. Kyle Palmer said. “Copies of the messages were sent [to us], and we were able to authenticate them with the victim’s family.”

The person who received the messages is 16 years old, Palmer said.

“It was a conversation about everyday stuff,” Palmer said of the messages. “[There was] nothing criminal in the conversations.”

Lowery, 39, was arrested and charged with electronic solicitation of a child on Nov. 19, 2024, after texting a child under the age of 15 and trying to meet for the purpose engaging in a sexual act,” according to court records.

Lowery was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He was released from jail on Nov. 21, 2024, after making bond with the condition that he was prohibited from communicating with females under the age of 18.

Information regarding Lowery’s arrest on Wednesday has been presented to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office. He will appear before a judge, who will determine Lowery’s bond status.
