Oct. 4 – Spruce Pine Trade Day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Shop, sell, swap and trade – livestock, plants, produce, crafts, baked goods and more at SiSu Homestead located at 526 McNatt Rd. in Spruce Pine. The event is free to the public. Vendor fee is $15. Vendors set up early. The event takes place each Saturday through the end of the year. Oct. 4 – Pumpkin Palooza + Scarecrow Trail, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Kick off the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Pumpkin Palooza and Scarecrow Trail from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 4 in downtown Russellville. Scarecrow sponsors will be giving out treats. Costumes are welcome. Take a selfie with The Great Pumpkin. Visit with character guests. Get free goodies from Junior Leaders. Those wishing to take part by sponsoring a scarecrow should contact the chamber at htttps:// franklincountychamber. org/pumpkin-palooza.

Oct. 11 – Spirit of Hodges – The annual Spirit of Hodges festival takes place in the town park in Hodges. For information, call 205-935-3445.

Oct. 18 – Spruce Pine Day – Scheduled music lineup includes Theresa Shuman and James Taylor, JT Music Factory, from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.; Noah Carter from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Grace Town and Tera Sherrill from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.; music break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.; The Parrish Boys (Landon Parrish, Elizabeth Parrish and Steven Parrish) from 1:15 until to be determined. Times may vary.

Food vendors will be Pistol’s Flaming Grill, Big Jerry’s Corn and Sub Zero Shaved Ice. All vendor spaces are sold out. Why Knot Show ‘Em Off Car Shows and Cruise Ins is the contact for the car show.

Bean dinner plates are $5 for your choice of pinto, white or mixed beans and Mexican or plain cornbread, slaw, a slice of onion, dessert and a drink. Plates will be served starting at 11 a.m. until they are sold out.

Spruce Pine Day T-shirts will be available. There is a gun raffle for a Henry 45-70. Tickets are $10 each. No more than 300 tickets will be sold. For information, call Shannon Pike at 256-460-5276.

Oct. 31 – Fifth Friday: Downtown Russellville presents its third Fifth Friday event with a tobe- determined “thriller” theme from 6 to 9 p.m.

Nov. 4, 6, 9 – Play, “You Can’t Beat the House,” Red Bay – The Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts will perform its next comedy, “You Can’t Beat the House,” Nov. 4, Nov. 6 and Nov. 9 at the Weatherford Centre in Red Bay. The play will be directed by Holly McKinney and Scotty Kennedy.

Al-Anon

Al-Anon meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the First Baptist Church in downtown Russellville across from the Roxy Theatre.

American Legion

AmericanLegionPost64 regularly meets the second Thursday of every month at the North Highlands Church of Christ fellowship hall with the meal at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m.

Alzheimer’s Support

The Alzheimer’s Support meeting is held at 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Generations of Red Bay. For information, call 256356-4982.
