Belgreen wins thriller over Shoals Christian

The Belgreen Bulldogs baseball team experienced a week of dramatic swings, ultimately securing a hard-fought victory over Shoals Christian after a tough loss to Colbert Heights. The Bulldogs showcased their offensive capabilities and resilience but also faced challenges on the mound and in the field.

Belgreen’s week culminated in a thrilling 13-10 victory over Shoals Christian. The Bulldogs appeared to be in control early, building a 7-0 lead after four and a half innings. However, Shoals Christian battled back, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth to narrow the gap.

Belgreen responded with four runs in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth, extending their lead to a seeminglyinsurmountable 13-4, but Shoals Christian refused to give up, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 13-10.

The Bulldogs’ offense was led by Ty Hamilton, Aaden Marsh and Gabrian Wilson, who each recorded two hits. Hamilton also earned the win on the mound, pitching the first three innings and allowing no runs on just two hits.

The Bulldogs faced a pitching challenge in the later innings, sending six pitchers to the mound to close out the game. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs suffered a 9-7 loss to Colbert Heights. Belmont’s defense struggled, committing five errors.

Despite holding leads of 4-2 after two innings, 5-3 after three innings, and 7-3 after six and a half innings, Colbert Heights rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Konner Trapp led the Bulldogs’ offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Colton Ashton added two hits and a RBI, and Rush Berryman contributed a double.
