Hospitals offer another vaccine clinic in Franklin County

Russellville Hospital, Red Bay Hospital and Helen Keller Hospital are teaming up once again to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to Franklin County – this time with the help of New Freedom Christian Fellowship.

This vaccine clinic will be held April 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the A.W. Todd Center in Russellville. The second dose will be given May 17.

“We really just wanted to do something to help out our community and help people get vaccinated,” said New Freedom Christian Fellowship Pastor Mario McCulloch.

McCulloch said his church currently is holding services at the A.W. Todd Center while their building is being built, which is how the clinic ended up being held at the A.W. Todd Center.

“We didn’t have the space to hold it ourselves, so we reached out about using the building,” McCulloch said.

The church will also be providing transportation for locals. For more information on this, call 256-332-2258.

The vaccine is free and available to everyone. Appointments can be made at helenkeller.com, and walk-ins are welcome while supplies lasts. McCulloch said 500 doses will be available at this clinic.

This is the second vaccine clinic the three hospitals have offered, with the first drawing 678 people.

The clinic are targeted to aid in vaccine distribution in Franklin County, with 1,750 doses of the Pfizer vaccine designated for county citizens.
