Bobcats trample Sheffield

Ridge Raper was perfect on the mound for the Phil Campbell Bobcats Friday. Raper went five innings without allowing a runner on base as the Bobcats shut out the Sheffield Bulldogs 10-0.

Raper struck out 12 batters in the perfect game.

Phil Campbell scored four runs in the second inning, three in the third and three in the fifth. Eli Smith had three RBIs and scored two runs while Mason Swinney and Ty Leindecker had two RBIs each. Swinney had three hits, and Rilan Garrison two hits.

Levi Crittenden, Nate Owens, Ty Leindecker, Swinney and Trey Leindecker all scored one run each.

Phil Campbell 11, West Limestone 5

Two big back-to-back innings were enough to lift the Phil Campbell Bobcats to an 11-5 win over West Limestone on Saturday.

Phil Campbell scored four runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to open up a 9-0 lead.

Trey Leindecker was 3-for-4, including a double, with an RBI and two runs scored. Luke Barnwell had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs and scored two runs. Owens was 2-for-3, including a double, with three RBIs and scored a run. Raper had a hit, two RBIs, and scored two runs. Levi Crittenden had two hits, including a double and an RBI and scored a run.

Cole Motes got the win for the Bobcats.

Phil Campbell 11, Central-Florence 1

Luke Barnwell pitched a gem in an 11-1 Phil Campbell win over Central-Florence Saturday.

Barnwell pitched the complete game, striking out four and allowing only one hit and no earned runs.

Raper went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Mason Swinney went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Levi Crittenden had two hits and scored two runs. Owens and Motes got two hits and two RBIs and scored a run each. Garrison had a triple with two RBIs and scored a run.

Mars Hill 5, Phil Campbell 3

The Phil Campbell Bobcats couldn’t overcome a 4-0 deficit last week as they lost to the Mars Hill Panthers 5-3.

Mars Hill scored one run in the first inning and three more in the top of the fifth to take a 4-0 lead over the Bobcats. Phil Campbell finally got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with one run. The Panthers got that run back in the top of the sixth inning. Phil Campbell scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning, but that was as close as they would get.

Owens went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Trey Leindecker and Barnwell also crossed the plate for the Bobcats.

Owens went four innings on the mound for Phil Campbell, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks. Austen Baker finished the final two innings for the Bobcats.
