City school board holds meeting

At this past school board meeting, Aug. 20, Superintendent Heath Grimes started by presenting the agenda. Payroll, updates on handbooks and trip requests were all approved.

The agenda also called for a revision in salary schedule for Extended Contacts and/or Supplements.

Further into the meeting, the board approved a resolution to nominate President Jerry Groce for the Alabama Association of School Boards AllState Board Member, which would be an honor for Groce and the Russellville City Board, as well as the schools, if he won.

“I appreciate them nominating me – thinking of me enough to nominate me,” said Groce.

The following personnel items were approved summarily:

Retirement in Position

– Doris Searcy, Bus Driver; effective Aug. 31, 2015

Leave of Absence Request

– Linda Gable, CNP Worker, WES; leave of absence from Aug. 10 to Sept. 22, 2015

Volunteer

– Abbey Harbin, Volleyball

Substitutes

– Patricia Ransom

– Jake Ward

– Abbey Harbin

Stipends

– Chris Heaps – $750 stipend for summer baseball camp to be paid out of RHS Baseball Booster Club

– Jay Stanley – $375 stipend for summer baseball camp to be paid out of RHS Baseball Booster Club

– Eli Fuller – $375 stipend for summer baseball camp to be paid out of RHS Baseball Booster

Club

– Andy Lambert – $375 stipend for summer baseball camp to be paid out of RHS Baseball

Booster Club.

Consultant for 2015-16

– Tracy Burns to be a pro consult for the Robotics Team. Maximum payment for the consultant at the assistant level shall not exceed $340.

Homebound Services

– Channing Wright to provide homebound services.

 

The next meeting date was set for Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m.
