Main Street hosts ‘Summer on Jackson’

RUSSELLVILLE — People gathered downtown Saturday evening for “Summer on Jackson,” a Main Street event featuring food, shopping and family activities.

Food trucks and glowin- the-dark mini-golf were among the attractions. Community members browsed vendor booths, shopped with local businesses, and gathered along Jackson Avenue throughout the event.

Main Street Executive Director Erica Childers said she was pleased with the turnout and the response from vendors and attendees.

“I think it’s been a good turnout,” Childers said. “I’ve talked to all the vendors. People liked the mini-golf. I hope they enjoyed the vendors and food trucks. I feel good about it.”

Childers said she was already looking ahead to the next event in the series.

Among the vendors were Melissa and Mario Andres, who operated a snow cone station.

“I think this has been great,” Melissa Andres said. “It brings the community together. I’d like to see more downtown events that bring people together as a community.”

Summer on Jackson is part of Russellville Main Street’s planned series of quarterly downtown events.

Childers said the first event provided a strong foundation for future gatherings.

“It feels good,” she said. “We’re off to a good start.”
