What streets and avenues will be closed during the Watermelon Festival?
RUSSELLVILLE — Some avenues and streets downtown will be closing Thursday afternoon in preparation for the 45th Franklin County Watermelon Festival.
Starting at 3 p.m. Thursday Jackson Avenue from Lauderdale Street to Lawrence Street will be closed.
Franklin Street will be closed from Jackson Avenue to Washington Avenue.
Here is a list of those avenues and intersections which will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Friday:
• Jackson Avenue from Cotaco Street to Lawrence Street;
• Washington Avenue from Lawrence Street to Lauderdale Street;
• Intersection of Jackson Avenue and Lawrence Street
Here is a list of those avenues and streets which will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Saturday:
• Jackson Avenue at the Marion Street intersection;
• Jackson Avenue on both sides of Montgomery Street
• Lauderdale Street will be closed from Washington Avenue to Green Street starting at 7 a.m. Saturday.
Russellville Police require that no vehicles will be allowed to park at these places:
• Rhett Bradford State Farm parking lot;
• Franklin Electric parking lot and drive thru;
• Post Office parking lot;
• Dollar General parking lot;
• Entrances of porta potties;
• Parking in or blocking any alleyways
If someone is parked in these listed areas, they will be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
