This year Phil Campbell held a play date for PCHS summer basketball. It’s a basketball tournament for all the local teams to compete in and practice for the upcoming year.

“Fans of the community got a preview of basketball on Tuesday in Phil Campbell,” Coach Darit Riddle said. “Eight county junior high teams representing four different county schools took part in a summer practice date. The 7/8th grade boys teams and 9th grade boys teams all played three games each.”

Riddle continued, “I really appreciated all who participated – the referees, the fans of the community, everyone who worked concession stands and all the teams who represented their schools well.”

The results of the summer basketball play date tournament were:

9 a.m. – Red Bay beat East Franklin 8th-9th grade boys

9:45 a.m. – Phil Campbell beat Tharptown 7-8th grade boys
