Mayor, council recognize Cultura Garden Club

Mayor David Grissom and the Russellville City Council honor the Cultura Garden Club for its contribution to the community. Grissom praised the club for its efforts in beautifying the town and supporting local education. In particular, the club was recognized for two awards given at the 2015 Garden Clubs of Alabama State Convention in Birmingham: first place Dorothy Speir Parrish Award for the most outstanding Every Light is a Prayer for Peace event and honorable mention YASTE Award for outstanding civic development work in regards to the club’s work in downtown Russellville. The mayor and council honored each the club’s 19 members with a resolution, framed at presented to them at the June 15 council meeting.
