Brooke Long steps in as new RHS girls basketball coach

Russellville High School named Brooke Long the new Golden Lady Tigers Varsity Basketball this past week.
Brooke Long has coached six years in her young coaching career. She started out her first five years at Monrovia Middle School located in the Madison School District in Huntsville, Ala.
The next year she took the job at Moulton Middle School leading them to a county title in her one and only year with the school. She also helped coach the varsity team as an assistant leading them to the playoffs where they lost to the eventual state champion,Wenonah High School.
Coach Brooke Long said she ended up being the new Russellville Basketball Head Coach after showing initial interest.
“I heard through a few sources about the position opening up and I immediately was interested,’ Long said. “After having the interview I was very confident.
“Their values and strong work ethics I really value and like. That’s what I want all the players to work for and have,” Long said.
Russellville High School was happy to announce the hiring of Long and is ready to see where she takes the program and what she can bring to it.
“From what I can see so far this team has so much potential to be successful in the future,” Long said.
Russellville High School girls basketball just held tryouts for the upcoming season. With the new players coming in and with the returning players, the Lady Tigers are hopeful for a solid next season.
Long said she feels becoming the new head coach at Russellville is exciting for her.
“I’m very excited about taking over as the new basketball coach at Russellville,” Long said. “I want to build this program from the bottom up and have a good foundation and help each and every player grow up on and off the court.
“From starting school as a freshman to ending as a senior, being a good player academically first then as a player next is important,” Long said. “Those things are very important to me. “
Coach Long wants everyone from her players and their families to the school and community to expect this.
“The tempo and intensity is going to be high, and we’re going to have the urgency and the will.” Long said. “Those are my top priorities as the new coach of this program. I want to build something great here at Russellville High School,” Long said.
“I want to be here as long as everyone wants me here. I’m going to earn the respect and trust as I start to run this program. I’m going to do everything I can to make this a successful basketball team for as long as I can.”
