by Josh Prewitt for the FCT

The Golden Tigers defeated Decatur 15-0 behind a strong effort from winning pitcher Jakari Suggs who pitched a complete game leading Russellville to the win.

Jakari Suggs pitched all five innings collecting two strikeouts, 15 first pitch strikes, and a 0.80 WHIP. Brooke Borden and Megan Brockway lead the way with game-high three hits each.

The team as a whole had a game-high 19 hits. Brockway also added five RBIs and Russellville got three RBIs from Sydney Burcham. Lexi Lemon had one walk. Kalli Daniel, Lilly Holt, and Megan Brockway all had three QABs in the big win.

The Lady Tigers had a huge third inning with eight runs followed by four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth in the 15-0 rout of Decatur. That puts Russellville at 27-16 for the season. Russellville is currently second in the area right behind Lawrence County.

After the game Head Coach John Smith was happy with how the game played out.

“I was very impressed with Jakari Suggs. She pitched the entire game. So I was pleased with the pitching,” Smith said. “I also was very happy with how our defense played out there today not allowing a run.

“On offense we were hitting really good,” Smith said. “We are trying to get prepared as much as we can for the Area Tournament coming up and I think today was a great start.”
