Golden Tigers golf continue solid season with road trip

The Russellville Golden Tiger boys golf team has done quite a bit of traveling in the last couple weeks.

Starting on March 26, the boys kicked off their trip with a win in Bessemer playing an 18-hole match at Brentbrook. Eli Hodges led the team shooting a 72 followed by Joshua Seal and Blake Bendall, each shooting a 76. Cameron DeArman shot an 83, Luke Bendall, 84, Tristan Tubbs, 87, and Christian Foster finished with a score of 96.

On March 30 the boys traveled to Ledges in Huntsville where they played an 18-hole tournament at the Bob Jones Invitational and placed 8 out of 20 teams. Hodges led the team again with a score of 76. Blake Bendall and Luke Bendall came in with a score of 83. Joshua Seal finished with an 84, and Cameron DeArman shot a 93.

Recently the boys traveled to Cherokee Valley in Muscle Shoals where they took on Deshler High School in a 9-hole match and took home another win. Seal led the team to the win shooting a 34. Hodges came in with a 34. Both Luke and Blake Bendall finished with a 38. Tubbs shot a 37 and DeArman shot a 40. Other members of the team along with the girls were unable to finish their round at Tennessee Valley due to inclement weather in the area.

The Tigers’ also finished second out of 21 teams at the Fairview match on April 7. Eli Hodges took first place individually. Top scorers for the Golden Tigers were Hodges with a 69, Seal with an 82, L. Bendall with an 83 and B. Bendall with an 84. Tubbs shot an 87, DeArman finished with a 90 and Jaceton Murray finished with a 97.

The Tigers’ total score for the day in Fairview was a 318. For their next match, the boys travel to Cypress Lakes in Muscle Shoals on April 20.
