Tharptown shuts out Phil Campbell

Shelby Palmer allowed only one hit to Phil Campbell as the Tharptown Wildcats shut out the Bobcats 14-0.

Kaylee Bain had three hits including a double and a triple.  Kaitlyn Vandiver had three hits including a double.  Autumn Sutter also had three hits in the game.

Haley Malone had two hits and three RBIs.

Palmer struck out five in the contest.

Vina wins two in the Vina Invitational

The Vina Red Devils had a good showing in their own tournament only losing to Mars Hill.  Vina defeated Tremont, Mississippi 8-7 and Red Bay 5-4.

Kaitlyn King scored the winning run on an error to help Vina defeat Tremont.  Erica Cantrell got the win and had three hits.  Skyler Smith had two hits in the game.

Vina scored two runs in the final inning of play for a come-from-behind win over the Red Bay Tigers.  Ashleigh Thompson scored the winning run.  Skyler Smith had two RBIs.  Abby Hester had two stolen bases and one RBI.

Annabelle Upton had two hits in the loss to Mars Hill.

Vina batters hit twelve times by pitches in loss to Phillips

Vina girls were hit by a pitch twelve times in a 12-11 loss to Phillips.

The twelve hit-by-pitch stat was one shy of a state record of thirteen set earlier this season.  Coincidently, Vina would have tied the record and won the game had the umpire ruled that one Vina batter had leaned into a pitch.  The game was tied 11-11, bases were loaded and the walk would have scored the game-winning run.

Brooke Brown and Emily Renfrow were each hit three times.  Abby Hester, Hannah Baggett and Annabelle Upton were each hit twice.

Upton went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
