Ted Dwight Overton, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at Glenwood Healthcare, Florence.

He was born in Alabama and worked in Tool and Die for General Motors for 30 years. He was a member of Hodges Convention Baptist Church and a Mason. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.

Services were Friday, Oct. 3, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Loyd Ray Griffus officiating. Burial was in Overton Cemetery, Hodges.

Survivors are one daughter, Gail McGregor, Florence; two grandchildren, Jim McGregor and wife, LaShonda, and Chris McGregor and wife, Margaret Ann, all of Birmingham; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlyn, J.T., Smith and Emma McGregor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Overton; a son, Dwight Overton; his parents, Forest and Annie Chamblee Overton; a brother, Hague Overton; and a sister, Faye Artrip.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Visitation was Friday, October 3, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.

The family extends their thanks to Dr. Webb and all the staff from Station B, truly special and caring people, at Glenwood Healthcare.
