Ceremony honoring former student is good idea
The death of a close friend is always difficult to deal with, but that is especially true for young children.
Earlier this year the students of East Franklin Junior High School lost one of their classmates, Noah Trapp.
Trapp was a popular and well-liked student in the halls of East Franklin, so it was understandable when the other students had difficulty adjusting to his death. School officials decided to help with the healing process by holding a balloon release ceremony to celebrate the life of Trapp.
The Franklin County Times commends EFJHS for its creative way to help its students cope with this tragic event. While schools are charged with educating children, there are some things not covered in textbooks. When teachers and administrators take the extra step to help students facing a difficult situation, they deserve a little praise.
