Commission’s action shows concern about complaints
One of the great things about the form of government in the United States is that it has to answer to voters.
When something happens the citizens do not like, they can vote leaders out of office and elect officials who will govern according to the will of the people.
Occasionally, some government organizations forget their purpose is to serve the people who elected them.
The Franklin County Commission is not one of those bodies. When area residents brought concerns about the Franklin County Animal Control Office to the commission’s attention, the members acted quickly to address those concerns.
One of the problems has been fixed while others will take a little longer to rectify. While the problems cannot be resolved in the blink of an eye, it is nice to see the commission taking the issues seriously and working in a timely manner to resolve them.
Many people appreciate a responsive government, and by not delaying action the commission has shown it is willing to handle the problems that arise in the county.
It would have been easy for the commission to delay action or make excuses as to why it could not address the problem. Fortunately the members of the commission realized the voters hold them accountable and took action.
It would be nice if all government bodies could act in a similar fashion.
