Remember to honor those who sacrificed their lives

Monday many Americans will be enjoying the conclusion of a three-day weekend highlighted by cookouts and gatherings of friends and neighbors.

Monday, of course, is Memorial Day. It is a day dedicated to honoring the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to the United States.

Throughout the years countless individuals have fought for and protected the country’s values and way of life. Many of those individuals died in their efforts and Memorial Day is a time to remember that sacrifice and pay tribute to those unselfish individuals who gave so much to preserve our freedoms.

There is nothing wrong with having a good time Monday, but The Franklin County Times would like to encourage everybody to take a few moments to reflect upon and honor the meaning of Memorial Day.
