Program to help reduce prescription drug abuse

Russellville and Red Bay’s participation in the National Take Back Initiative this weekend is a good sign that these cities are serious about fighting the drug problem on all levels.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and in most communities that means law enforcement agencies focus more on meth and marijuana. But abuse of prescription pills is also wide spread.

The National Take Back Initiative is a way for people to dispose of outdated or unused prescription drugs before they fall into the hands of people who will abuse them.

Illegal drug use is harmful to society. Thankfully the Russellville and Red Bay police departments are taking steps to reduce and prevent drug abuse in all forms.
