Red Bay's pitching dominates in doubleheader against Belgreen

RED BAY – Zach Hubbard's time on the mound was short and sweet for Red Bay Thursday night as he and the Tigers dismantled Belgreen 20-1 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Hubbard, who only faced six batters while earning the victory, struck out each of the batters he faced during his two innings of work.
Chase Lindsey came on in relief and struck out the first three Belgreen batters he faced.
While the Bulldogs had trouble putting the ball into play, the Tigers scored almost at will.
Red Bay sent 14 batters to the plate in the first inning while scoring eight runs.
Matt Montgomery, Bradley Patterson, Lindsey, Andy Thorn, Hubbard, Austin Malone and Justin Roberts all scored runs during the inning – Montgomery scored twice.
The Tigers got hits from Patterson, Montgomery and Kevin Hastings during the inning and also drew seven walks.
The second inning was much like the first with Red Bay scoring eight runs on five hits while sending 14 batters to the plate again.
The Tigers put in several bench players for the third inning and Belgreen was able to retire the first two batters faced, walked the third and had the fourth ground out to end the inning.
The Bulldogs ended Hubbard's and Lindsey's chance at the combined perfect game when Cody Glasgow doubled to center field.
Trent Edwards followed with a single that allowed Glasgow to score the only run of the game for Belgreen.
Chance Wooten, Austin Green, Austin Thorn and Roberts all scored in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 20-1.
Taylor Hargett drew a walk for Belgreen in the fifth to become the Bulldog's only base runner of the inning.
In all, the Red Bay pitchers combined to strike out 14-of-19 Belgreen batters.
Red Bay 11,
Belgreen 0
The Tigers used several of their younger players in the second game of the double header, but the results were similar as Red Bay rolled to an 11-0 win.
The game was called midway through the third inning due to the extremely cold temperatures.
The Tigers scored eight runs in the first inning as each of Red Bay's first eight batters crossed the plate.
The Tigers added three runs during the second inning.
Malone, Roberts, Ethan Blanton, Wooten, Tyler Hastings, Austin Thorn, Green and Dimitri Humphrey all scored for Red Bay during the game.
Blanton pitched two innings to pick up the win. He struck out the first three batters he faced and had the fourth ground out before issuing a walk to Belgreen's Tyler Crittenden.
Crittenden stole second and moved to third on a passed ball, but Blanton struck out two of the next three batters to end the threat.
Tyler Hastings pitched one inning of relief.
