    David Eugene Winsted, 60, of Phil Campbell passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. James McCullar and Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. Interment will be in Spruce Pine Cemetery.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Zackie and Lorene Winsted; siblings, Melvin Winsted, Douglas Winsted, Floette Motes and Velma Welch.
    He is survived by his wife, Janice Winsted; son, Chris Winsted and wife, Michelle; daughter, Shelia Gasaway; grandchildren, Kayla Plunkett and husband, Reed, Josh Graham, Zackary Winsted and Jacob Winsted; brothers, Alford Winsted, Delano Winsted, William Winsted, Audrey O'Kelley and Mazel Saint; and several nieces and nephew.
    The pallbearers will be Chris Winsted, Roger Cornelius, Gary Musgrave, Reed Plunkett, Shelia Gasaway and Dennis Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Graham, Randy Motes, Andy Motes and Charles Thompson.
    Helen Mitchell

    Helen Mitchell, 89, of Russellville passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at her residence. She was born August 27, 1920 in Franklin County to Edgar Lee and Lizzie Bell Johnson Mitchell. She had been an employee of Blue Bell in Belmont, Miss. She was a member of Belgreen Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Hargett and Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. Burial was in Greenhill-Ezzell Cemetery.
    She is survived by two sisters, Maedrew Mitchell and Gracie M. DeVaney, both of Russellville; one niece; one nephew; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Benjamin R. Mitchell and Milton Mitchell; and one sister, Hortense M. Ray.
    Marie Spencer Miller
    February 23, 2010
    Marie Spencer Miller, 83, of Vina passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Red Bay Hospital. She was born Nov. 25, 1926 in Vina to Joseph Edward and Martha Jane Brooks Spencer. She had been an employee of Regal China and Vina School. She was a member of Vina First Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Vina First Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Swimmer officiating. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery.
    She is survived by eight grandchildren, Johnny Hall, of Killen, Kenneth Wells, of Red Bay, Shawn Burke, Kimberly Powers and Tommy Miller, all of Vina, Lisa Miller Chandler, of Tupelo, Miss., Tonya Draper, of Iuka, Miss. and Dustin Miller, of Tremont, Miss.; two sisters, Betty Mahan, of Vina and Bonnie Gober, of Red Bay; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Miller; three children, James "Pop" Miller, Susie Scott and Barbara Bleaux; two sister, Mamie Miller and Elizabeth Childers; and two brothers, Elbert Spencer and Olen Spencer.
    Pallbearers were Lance Spencer, Michael Moomaw, Robert Moomaw, Jamie Miller, Petie Six and Eric Powers.
    Betty Sartin
    February 24, 2010
    Betty Sartin, 76, of Red Bay passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Generations in Red Bay. She was born July 16, 1933 in Franklin County to Romie and Emma Leona Garrison Smith.
    There will be no funeral services.
    She is survived by one daughter, Patty Harrison, of Red Bay; three sisters, Alvleen Canup, of Okeechobee, Fla., Evonne Petree and Peggy Patterson, both of Red Bay; three grandchildren, Paul Harrison, Emily Harrison and Tammy Harrison, all of Red Bay; and several great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Hazel Sartin; son, Roy Lee Sartin; and daughter, Betty Jo Sartin.
    James Curtis Hester
    February 26, 2010
    James Curtis Hester, 82, of Russellville passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Burns Nursing Home.
    The visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Bro. Wade Wallace and Rev. Joe Lennox officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dora Annie Hester; two brothers, Glasgow Hester and Noble Hester.
    He is survived by his wife, Peggy Hester; son, Timothy Hester, of Russellville; grandson, Ramsey Clay Hester; granddaughter, Samantha Ann Hester; brothers, Therman Hester, of Maryville, Tenn., and Horace Hester, of Russellville; six nephew; six nieces; and sister-in-law, Joyce King and husband, Gerald.
    He was an Army veteran, he worked with the highway department, and also a rural letter carrier for 22 years.
    Sara Nell Cooper

    Sara Nell Cooper, 80, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Mitchell Hollingsworth in Florence.
    She was a native Marion County and member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
    She was a driver for the Senior Citizens.
    Funeral services were Feb. 26, 2010 Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Roger Bond and J. T. Price officiating.
    Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
    Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Fisher and husband, Elbert, Jr., Russellville; Linda Graham and husband, Gene Jr., Smyna, Tenn; sons, James R. Cooper and wife, Patricia, Russellville; Edward David Cooper and wife, Judy, St. Elmo, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Edward D. Cooper, Sr.
    Thomas Edwin Winchell
    February 24, 2010
    Thomas Edwin Winchell, 82, of Russellville, passed away Wed., Feb. 24, 2010 at his residence.
    He was a native of Michigan, but had lived in Franklin County for the past 22 years.
    He was a member of Capital of S.O. Lodge 66 of Free and Accepted Masons. He served in the Army during World War II and was retired from Federal Drop Forge in Lansing Michigan.
    The family will receive friends Sun., Feb. 28, 2010 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with memorial service at 2 p.m.
    Survivors include children, Douglas W. Sloat and wife, Karen, Phoenix, Ariz., Teresa A. McCoubrey and husband, Tom, Dunlap, Tenn.; granddaughter, Dorothy R. McCoubrey; close friends, William and Barbara Bishop.
    He was preceded in death by wife, Movolene Swinney Winchell.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
    Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.

    Elizabeth Loveless, 94, of Haleyville passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. The visitation service was held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wedenesday, February 24, 2010 inside the chapel. Burial services were held at Bethel Cemetery in the Wiley Branch Community.

    Letha Inez Mitchell, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at her residence. The visitation service was held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Silas Oliver officiating. Her burial service was held at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
    Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Mitchell Sr.; parents, Cleveland and Lillie Jarnigan; sister, Betty Sue Greenhill; brother, Herman Jarnigan
    She is survived by her sons, Robert Mitchell Jr. and wife, Linda, Roger Mitchell and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Michael Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell and Tyra Cummings; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Essie Earlene Robinson, Loren Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Michael Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell and Michael David Cummings. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Cummings, Jared Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Devin Mitchell and Dillon Mitchell.
    She will be remembered for her kindness and always putting others first before herself. She was loved by all.
    Barbara Ellen Williams

    Barbra Ellen Williams, 72, of Hodges passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Terrace Manor Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. She was born August 31, 1937 to Glenn and Margaret Fox, who preceded her in death. She was retired from the M&M Mars Candy Company.
    Visitation services were held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the chapel with Der. Rex Manasco officiating. Burial services were held in Old Line Cemetery in Hodges.
    Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband James Eckle Williams; children, Barbara Fay Williams of Chicago, IL; James Allen Williams of Chicago, IL; Michael Bruce Williams of Hodges and Annette Hamby and husband, James, of Hodges; granddaughter, Cassie Williams; sister, Marilyn Holland of Muscle Shoals; brother, Jimmy Fox of Adrian, Mi; three nieces, Belinda Holland of Muscle Shoals, Janelle Holland of Florence and Peggy Fox of Adrian, Mi.
    Pallbearers were James Vern Hamby, Billy Joe Williams, Ken Williams, Joel Page, Anthony Page and Alec Page.
