Tigers one win from sub-regional

That a difference a year makes.
At the end of the 2009 season, the Red Bay varsity boys basketball team had won five games and were the fifth seed in the Class 2A, Area 14 Tournament.
Fast forward one year and the Tigers have more than doubled their win total – they are 11-12 overall – and are the No.-2 seed in the area tournament.
They also have a good shot at reaching the sub-regional round of the state playoffs for the first time in several years.
The Tigers face Hatton Friday in the semifinals of the area tournament.
A win would give Red Bay not only a shot at an area title, but it would also assure the Tigers of the sub-regional berth.
Red Bay split the season series with Hornets. The Tigers won the first game 60-57, but lost 54-40 a few weeks ago.
The game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Mars Hill School.
