For the second year in a row the Vina varsity boys basketball team opened the season series against Belgreen with a win thanks to a 53-47 victory last Friday.
The Red Devils got off to a sluggish start and fell behind 12-3 early. Vina rallied and closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run to tie the game.
The Red Devils kept the momentum in the second quarter as they built a 28-18 halftime lead. The Bulldogs rallied in the third to pull within three points, but Vina proved too much down the stretch.

Brent Townsend led the Red Devils with 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Patrick White added nine points and nine rebounds while Adam Pharr had eight points and nine rebounds.
Morgan McCarley had nine points and Ethan McInnis led the Red Devils with 13 rebounds.
