Jackson named RB police chief

Red Bay has a new police chief as the council unanimously voted to promote Assistant Chief Janna Jackson to Police Chief.
Jackson has been a part of the Red Bay department since 1996, and has served as assistant chief since 1998.
"I am excited about this new opportunity, and look forward to continue working with the officers, and the council," Jackson said.
Jackson said she looks forward to continue to serve the citizens in her new role.
"Our department has an open door policy, and we encourage anyone with any concerns to stop by my office," Jackson said.
In addition to her role with the department, Jackson is also a trained negotiator with the Franklin County Special Response Team.
Jackson replaces former-chief Pat Creel, who resigned a few weeks ago due to personal reasons.

The next regular council meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at the city hall.
