Howard Franklin "Humble" McGee, 72, of Phil Campbell passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at his residence.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Brian Scott officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Toby Quillen, Johnny Allen, Greg Marshall, Kevin McGee, Jason Wood and Mickey Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McGee and Daryl Posey.
He is survived by his daughters, Gwendolyn Pennington of Russellville and Patricia and Jr. Smith of Phil Campbell; brothers, Tommy and Caleta McGee of Phil Campbell, Gene and Helen McGee of Phil Campbell and David McGee of Cherokee; sister, Mary and Wayne Borden of Leighton; best friend, Leon Ergle; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie McGee; father, William Horace (Bill) McGee; mother, Gwendolene Latham McGee; sisters, Brenda O'Kelly and Sue McGee; brothers, Billy McGee, James McGee, Jerry McGee, Jimmy McGee and John McGee; and son-in-law, James O. Pennington.

Mildred Lee Andrews

Mildred Lee Andrews, 98, of Birmingham and formerly of Russellville passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1910. She was former teacher at Athens Bible School. She taught regular Bible classes at her church even into her late nineties and was a great influence to her family and community.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Charlie Britnell officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. Andrews, former minister of Littleville Church of Christ.
A memorial service was held at her home congregation, Tarrant Church of Christ in Birmingham, Sept. 17.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue Britnell; son-in-law, Charlie Britnell; brother, Preston and Georgia Cox; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

William G. Walker

William G. "Bill" Walker, 79, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 in Ohio. He was a native of Franklin County and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was retired from General M otors and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He served as past master of Melrose Lodge 671 and McMillan Lodge 141. He achieved the rank of 33-degree mason and was the current tyler of the Scottis Right Valley of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was the beloved husband of Maggie Walker and dear father of William G. (Kathy) Walker Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Bertie Kennerly of Phil Campbell; brothers, Hugh Walker of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Joe Walker of Oregon; and granddaughters, Kristen and Kendra Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Harry Walker.
Friends may call Grace United Methodist Church Friday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. until time of the Masonic service at 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the 32-degree Masonic Learning Center for Children.

La-Verne E. Timbs

La-Verne E. Timbs, 72, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at her residence in Belmont, Miss. She was born June 25, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anthony and Mary Ponge Meohorcic. She was a factory worker and a baptized witness who attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Iuka, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Timbs; her parents; daughter-in-law, Gale Timbs; sister-in-law, Mary Wilk; and brother, Richard Mohorcic.
Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont, Miss., with Robert Hyatt officiating. Interment was in Old Union Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Timbs and Glenda Rico (Hesiquio), both of Red Bay, William Timbs of Belmont, Miss., Elizabeth Gasaway (William) of Fairview, Miss., and sister, Florence Kowalski of Cleveland, Ohio.
Pallbearers were William Timbs, William Gasaway, Korey Gasaway, Anthony Timbs, Warren Foster, Hesiquio Rico and Danny Timbs.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
