Red Bay places sixth in state

Fancher finishes in three-way tie for 16th

FORD CITY – The Red Bay boys golf team capped another successful season with a sixth-place finish Tuesday at the Class 1A-2A state tournament held on the Schoolmaster course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals.
Red Bay, which has qualifed for state the past three years under coach Johnny Cleveland, shot a second-round 362 for a final score of 707.
The Tigers finished behind state champion Shoals Christian (598), Bayside Academy (611), Houston Academy (651), White Plains (661) and Westminster Christian (662).
Red Bay senior Grant Fancher, who has qualifed for state the past six years, shot a second-round 84 Tuesday. His final score of 159, which included four birdies and 16 pars, tied him with Westminster Christian's Cameron Lewis and Shoals Christian's John Charles Crow for 16th overall in the individual standings.
The Tigers' Adam Seahorn fired a second-round 87 to card a 176 with two birdies and eight pars. Justin Page shot six pars for a 185 (89-98), while Derrick Miller had two birdies and 10 pars for a 187 (89-98) and Casey Keeton had seven pars and a birdie to finish with a 203 over 36 holes.
