Lady Bulldogs beat Covenant in overtime

Holly Nichols made a pair of game-tying free throws late in regulation, and Deborah Billingham finished with 18 points on Tuesday as Belgreen edged area rival Covenant Christian 46-41 in overtime.
Mary Billingham added 11 points and Kellie Oliver had 10 for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Class 1A, Area 16.
Belgreen led by four heading into the fourth quarter before Covenant rallied to take a two-point lead. Nichols then made two free throws with less than 30 seconds remaining to force overtime, and the Lady Bulldogs out-scored Covenant 10-5 in the extra period.
Crystin Johnson led the Lady Eagles with 14 points, and Lauren McCullough finished with 11.
Belgreen returns to action tonight with a game at Tharptown.

Shelly Cooper had 20 points on Tuesday as the Lady Bobcats ended a three-game losing skid and won their Class 2A, Area 16 opener.
Chasity Morgan added 14 points and Caitlin Stancil had 10 for Phil Campbell (3-4, 1-0), which led 16-5 after one quarter and 32-7 at the half.
Kelvonda Moore led Cherokee (1-6) with 17 points.
Phil Campbell will host Hamilton on Saturday.
Mars Hill 47 Red Bay 38
Mars Hill out-scored Red Bay 12-5 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and send the Lady Tigers to their third straight loss.
Morgan Duncan led Red Bay (1-3, 0-1 Class 2A, Area 16) with 11 points, and Brittany Scott added nine.
Faith Landers had 11 points to lead Mars Hill (6-3), which led 23-22 at the half and 35-33 after three quarters.
Red Bay will play in the Belmont (MS) Classic this weekend.
Waterloo 62 Vina 42
Heather Holland led the Lady Red Devils with 14 points in Tuesday's area loss.
Kayla Bridges added 10 points and LeShe McGee had eight for Vina.
Whitney Wilson led Waterloo (2-4) with 17 points, and Kendra Kelley added 13.
