County schools seeing improvements

Recent school improvements across Franklin County were the highlight of the Franklin County Board of Education's meeting on March 30.
Franklin County Schools Assistant Superintendent Gary Williams reported on constructions projects in Red Bay, Vina, and Belgreen at the board's meeting on Thursday in Russellville.
Williams also informed the board that a new multipurpose building at Vina that features a combination auditorium/elementary gym and weight room has been completed. The new baseball field at Vina has also been completed.
In Belgreen, a new gym and cafeteria are under construction, and the board will soon begin to advertise for bids on new classrooms at Tharptown.
Construction on the Tharptown project is expected to begin around the first of June. When the building is completed, Tharptown will provide classrooms for grades K-12. The new addition will house 12 classrooms and a gym for grades 7-12.
Construction on the Tharptown building is expected to be completed by the 2008-09 school year.
