One trip through downtown Russellville gives a quick reminder that the Christmas season is in full swing.
As has become tradition, the Russellville Electric Department began hanging the city's Christmas lights through downtown the week after Thanksgiving, donating the manpower to the city.
The decorative street lights usher in the holiday season and provide the city with a festive look for the rest of the year.
The electric department uses a bucket truck to hang the lights and make sure that all of the lights are working.
The lights were purchased by the city about 4-5 years ago and are much easier to handle than the previous decorations, Grissom said.
The lights, which are hooked to a timer that tells them when to turn off and on, are not the only decorations found downtown.
Grissom said that he would like to see the city decorate other areas in the future.
Brown said that the lights are a welcome part of the season.
