As has been the custom in Collinsville, West Lauderdale's first-round Class 3A slow-pitch softball series was merely a formality.
The sixth-ranked Lady Knights swept Magee 15-0 and 10-0 in a pair of five-inning games to improve to 24-4. Magee finished 9-11.
West will face the Hazlehurst-West Marion series winner in second-round play on Tuesday.
Kayla Eubanks, who came in with a .583 batting average, went 6-for-7 in the two games, driving in four runs in the opener and two more in the nightcap. She had two triples, a homer, and three singles and scored five runs.
Magee had only six hits all singles in the two games. The Lady Trojans advanced one runner past first base in each game.
Sommer Jones (24-4) struck out five and got another batter to foul out. In between, the Lady Knights turned two double plays. At the plate, Jones was 3-for-6 after going 3-for-3 in the opener.
Josie Matthews also had a good day, going 4-for-7 with four runs and three RBIs.
Holly Herrington went 4-for-7, scoring four runs and driving in three.
Ashley Helms and Hayley Campbell were both 3-for-5. Helms also scored three runs.
Kristi Lantz was 2-for-6 with five RBIs and two runs. Katie McAlister was 2-for-5.
In the opener, the Lady Knights committed two errors on Magee's first three batters, then played flawless in the field the rest of the contest. West turned a 1-4-3 double play in the top of the third to erase one of Magee's two baserunners over the final four frames.
Meanwhile, the Lady Knights scored four runs in the second inning and added seven more in third to grab a 13-0 lead. The Lady Knights had 17 hits in the 45-minute game.
In the second game, West had 13 hits and Magee committed four errors.
Martina Draughn went 2-for-2 to lead the Lady Trojan offense.
West struck for four runs in the top of the first inning with two scoring on a triple by Lantz. Matthews added a two-run triple in the second inning as the Lady Knights went up 7-0.
Eubanks had a two-run homer in the fourth.
