    Obituaries for Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003

    Homemaker
    Services for Mevelyn Ross will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Danny Chisholm officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery.
    Mrs. Ross, 71, of Meridian, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at her home. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Truesdale and her husband, Sonny, of Albany, Ga.; and Dena Patterson and her husband, Joey, of Meridian; her son, Jimmy Ross and his wife, Donna, of Birmingham, Ala. ; and grandchildren, Zach and Adam Truesdale, Jim and Brittany Ross, and Trent and Meg Patterson.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Ross and her parents, Melvin Raley and Sadie Miller Raley Willingham.
    Pallbearers will be Bob Raley, Leon Ross, Louis Ross, Scott Ross, Ernie Ross, Craig Ross and Tim McMullen. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Kate Higginbotham will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Medrick Savell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the House Community of Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Higginbotham, 77, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Neshoba County General Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of the House Community of Neshoba County and she was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her daughter, Linda Spears and her husband, Hilton; grandson, Shannon Goforth; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Goforth and Allison Goforth, all of Union; brothers, Jimmie Page of Philadelphia, Bernell Page and W.A. Page, both of Union, Ardell Page of Mendenhall and Marzell Page of Pearl; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Higginbotham.
    Pallbearers will be Keith Page, Dwight Page, Jay Spears, Jerry Winstead, Glen Fry and Terry Penson.

    NEWTON Services for Willie Mae Mangum Meadows will be held today at 7 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Charles Bonner and Tommy Mangum officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Magee City Cemetery in Magee.
    Mrs. Meadows, 84, of Newton, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Bedford Care Center of Newton. She was retired from Arnold Apparel in Magee. She was born in Simpson County and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She also served in the Army during World War II.
    Survivors include her daughters, Ruby Williams and her husband, Ray, Judy Bonner and her husband, Charles, all of Newton, Ola Sullivan and her husband, Pat, of Mendhall, and Mary Russell of Pinola; a son, James Walker Mangum Brannon and his wife, Beveley, of Hattiesburg; brothers, Mayo Mangum and his wife, Wanda, of Laurel and Rev. Tommy Mangum and his wife, Libby, of Moselle; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Meadows; a brother, Herbert Mangum; two step-sons, Jeff Meadows and Bill Meadows; and a great-grandchild, Jay Shook.
    Pallbearers will be Jeffery Meadows, Barry Sullivan, Jeffery Bain, Kenny Russell, Greg Nowell, Chris Vance, John Shook and Jim Burnham.
    Visitation will be today three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
    Road crew foreman for Choctaw County Commission
    BUTLER, Ala. Services for Hunter P. Stafford will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barber Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
    Mr. Stafford, 53, of Gilbertown, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Ellen Jacobs Stafford of Gilbertown; a son, Donnie Stafford and his wife, Selena, of Gilbertown; a sister, Frances Edwards of Butler; three grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired school teacher
    Graveside services for Amanda Morgan Crenshaw will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Petty officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Crenshaw, 89, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Center. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
    Inspector
    UNION Services for Lawrence Lee Frazier will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Spirit of Life Christian Center in the Pearl River Community with the Rev. Thomas Ben, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Standing Pine with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Frazier, 56, of Choctaw, died, Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was an inspector with the Choctaw Housing Authority.
    Survivors include his wife, Rita Frazier; daughters, Nana Frazier and Alicia Ben, all of Choctaw; sons, Michael Zasmowich, Jr. of Plano, Texas and Jay Wesley of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Shirley Zasmowich; brothers, Luke Frazier and Doyce Frazier, all of Dallas, Texas, Wilkie Frazier of Ada, Okla. and Bill Frazier of Texas; and his father, Solomon Frazier of Bonham, Texas.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Leflore Frazier.
    Visitation will be held today at 11:15 a.m. at the family home.

    Services for Georgia Lee Dollar Gay will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Greeson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
    Mrs. Gay, 93, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Rush Hospital. She was retired from Standard Drug Company in Meridian. She was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Newton County. She was a resident of Beverly Broadmoor Healthcare Center. She lived on Highland Avenue for more than 50 years.
    Survivors include her sons, Jerry Duane Gay and his wife, Pat, of Thomaston, Ga. and Michael L. Gay and his wife, Joann, of Meridian; a daughter, Nancy Rita Gay Lukens and her husband, Jim, of Lewiston, Pa.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion A. Dollar and Annie C. Underwood Dollar; a brother, Vardaman Dollar of Union and a sister, Mabel Dollar Corpier of Woodlawn, Texas.
    Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    NEWTON Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Mrs. Jarie Bassett Anderson, 81,of Newton, who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Theodore J. McLemore, 74, of Meridian, who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Rush Hospital.
