    Obituaries for Friday, Nov. 21, 2003

    HOUSTON, Texas A memorial service for Audrey Bolinger Westbrook will be held Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Houston with the Revs. Dr. John William Lancaster and Asa Hunt officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery. George H. Lewis and Sons Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Westbrook, 96, of Houston, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, in her home. She was born in Bolinger, La., on May 23, 1907. Her early education was in Bolinger, and later in Bolinger, Ala., where her family had timber and business interests and she graduated from Meridian High School, as Valedictorian.
    In 1928, she received her bachelor's of arts with a major in mathematics from Randolph Macon Woman's College and was named to Phi Beta Kappa. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Upon graduation, she traveled in Europe, then lived in New York City. After her marriage in 1931 to Charles Howard Westbrook Jr., an attorney, she made her home in Meridian, where she was especially active in First Presbyterian Church and the Magnolia Garden Club. In 1944, after Mr. Westbrook's death, she moved with her daughters to Shreveport, La., where her parents lived. Upon the death of her father in 1953, she took courses in accounting and oil and gas law and became involved in management of the family's business interests in farming and timber. From 1944 through 2001, she spent every summer in Montreat, N.C., where she took joy in the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and many treasured friends made there. To be near family, in 1972, she moved to Houston where she delighted in making new friends and became a devotee of Houston Grand Opera and Houston Symphony.
    She was faithful to that which nurtured her and was steadfast in her devotion to First Presbyterian Church in Houston, particularly Jo Anna Circle. Her passions were the arts, especially opera and literature, her garden, her friendships made throughout her life and foremost her family. Audrey embodied courage, indomitable love, intelligence and consummate grace. She lived her life with an abiding faith in God, a joyous eye for beauty, a contagious mirth and an authentic warmth for all.
    Survivors include her daughter, Susan Bolinger Westbrook Vaughan and her husband, Eugene H., of Houston; grandchildren, Margaret Corbin Vaughan, of Houston, Richard Bolinger Vaughan and his wife, Ann, of New York,, Margaret Miller Johnson and her husband, Gary Lutz, John Hamilton Miller and his wife, Robin; three great-grandchildren, all of Denver; nieces, Betty Basinger Frierson and her husband, Clarence, and Jean Basinger Allen, all of Shreveport, La.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Dora Maddux and John Corbin Bolinger; a sister, Helen Bolinger Basinger; and a daughter, Janet Westbrook Miller.
    Pharmaceutical technician
    PHILADELPHIA Memorial services for Tammy Colianni will be held today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. James Young officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Colianni, 42, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was born in Chicago where she made her home until 1995. She had lived in the Center Hill Community of Lauderdale County for the past eight years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Neshoba County.
    Survivors include her daughter, Nicole Lee Colianni, and her mother, Mavareen Gammill, both of Meridian; her father, James Edward Burkett and his wife, Jennifer, of Lexington, Tenn.; longtime companion, Mike Gilliand of Meridian; her step-father, Jerry Gammill and his wife, Molly, of Collinsville; her brother, Jerry Gammill Jr. of Chicago; her half-sister, Sissy Burkett, and half-brother, Eddie Burkett Jr., both of Lexington; and several aunts and uncles.
    Retired equipment operator/maintenance
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Hickman T. Massey will be held today at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Inc. with the Revs. Chris Vowell and Jimmy Townsend officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery in Philadelphia.
    Mr. Massey, 75, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Choctaw Health Center. He was a retired equipment operator/maintenance for county road and city street department.
    Survivors include his wife, Carrie Massey of Philadelphia; his daughter, Marie Sanchez of Magee; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters, Mavis Sims and Claudie Mae Drake, and a brother, Willis Massey, all of Philadelphia.
    Factory worker
    DEKALB Services for Janet M. Clark will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at E.E. McDonald Community Chapel in Meridian with the Rev. Evan McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Rush Cemetery.
    Ms. Clark, 31, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include three brothers, Darryl Clark and his wife, Lisa, Ervin Houston and his wife, Kim, all of Meridian; Gary Carlisle and his wife, Geraldine, of Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Catherine Spencer and her husband, Donald; Irvin Houston, Annie Houston and Sarah Williams and her husband, Robert, all of Meridian; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the chapel.
    DEKALB Services for Lorene Baylor will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Newell Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Gerald Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Meridian with Hampton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Baylor died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Regency Hospital in Meridian.
    Survivors include her husband, Matthew Baylor of Meridian; a son, Orlando Baylor and his wife, Gail, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter, Cassandra Baylor Williams and her husband, Jesse, of Lithonia, Ga.; three brothers, Lamar Thomas and his wife, Bobbie, of Glen Carbon, Ill.; Billy Thomas and his wife, Claudia, of Fishers, Ind.; and Ray Thomas of St. Louis; four sisters, Mildred Anderson and her husband, Norris, of DeKalb; Betty Dunn and Sharon Davis of St. Louis; and Curlie M. Dotson and her husband, Percy, of Allion, Ill.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents.
    Services for Robert E. Stokes will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Booze officiating. Burial will be in Cokes Chapel Cemetery with Berry &Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Stokes, 52, of Vossburg, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at his home.
    Survivors include his sister, Barbara Stokes Taylor of Meridian; and his brother, Lloyd Stokes and his wife, Terry, of Galveston, Texas.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. in Quitman.
