    Obituaries for Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003

    Self-employed carpenter
    PHILADELPHIA Services for James Ladd will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Linwood Baptist Church in Neshoba County with the Rev. Wayne Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Neshoba County with McClain-Hays Funeral Service, Inc. in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Ladd, 76, of Brookhaven, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
    Survivors include his wife, Eileen Ladd, of Brookhaven; and two sisters, Annie Inez Goshen of Tampa, Fla.; and Roma Cliburn of Brookhaven.
    Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
    General laborer
    MACON Graveside services for Jessie Thornell will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Cooksville Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Horton officiating. Cockrell Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Thornell, 82, of Macon, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Monfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko. He was a native of Calyx and attended Cooksville School in the Cooksville community. He lived in Noxubee County for most of his life and was a World War II veteran, serving in the occupation of Japan after the war.
    Mr. Thornell was a member of Westside Baptist Church and worked as a general laborer, including well digging and as a service station attendant. He had lived in the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Kosciusko for the past five years.
    Survivors include his son, Earnest Thornell, and his wife, Sandra, of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Florence Strait of Macon; Margie Kramer of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Minnie Wildermuth and Sally Beard, both of Bellville, Ill.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Hammett and Margaret Eunice Hill Thornell, and one sister, Janie Amelia Thornell.
    Memorials may be made to the Mississippi State Veteran's Home of 310 Autumn Ridge, Kosciusko, MS, 39090, or Westside Baptist Church, 503 Hale Street, Macon, MS 39341.
    Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired carpenter
    BUTLER, Ala. Services for Earl Alfred Pardue will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Hillard Broadhead, Jimmy Lloyd and James Irby officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery in Needham.
    Mr. Pardue, 86, of Butler, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at 4653 Scott Mountain Road.
    Survivors include his wife, Marie Broadhead Pardue, of Butler; his sons,Norman Pardue and his wife, Sherry, and Alfred Pardue and his fiance, Annette, all of Dayton, Texas; Marcus Pardue of Butler; and Hilton Pardue and his wife, Goldie, of Gilbertown; his daughter, Priscilla P. Reeves and her husband, Thomas; brothers, Dean Pardue of Wilma; and Johnny Reed of Palatka, Fla.; sisters, Delories Douglas of Chickasaw; Marlene Deer of Goose Creek, S.C.; and Iris Rivers of Mobile; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vinnie Pardue, four brothers and one sister.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired from Lucent Technologies
    CUMMING, Ga. Services for Douglas Keith McCrea will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody. McDonald and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. McCrea, 58, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003.
    Survivors include his son, Andrew McCrea of Merritt Island, Fla; two daughters, Deborah Ivey of Meridian, Miss.; and Kelli Ray of Maryville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dedra McCrea.
    Visitation will be Monday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Lola Allen, 88, of Collinsville, who died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
