Jackson Prep pops Lamar

The Jackson Prep baseball team smashed the ball and got good pitching from Harrison Hood to beat Lamar 17-4 in district play Tuesday night at Jim Wall Field.
Hood pitched a complete game and allowed just five hits to pick up the win.
Luke Uithoven led the Patriots at the plate with a 4-for-5 night, including two home runs.
The Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Daniel Harrison reached base on an error to start the rally.
After Blake Olmstead and Drew Moffett walked, David Haggard brought in a run with an infield single.
Monroe Mayfield followed with a walk for a 2-0 lead.
Jeremiah Lovett brought in the final run of the inning with a fielder's choice.
Jackson Prep got out of a first-and-third jam in the opening inning, with a pick off and a flyout to hold the score to 3-0.
Prep tied the game with a three-run second inning.
Warren Bowling singled and stole second base. Uithoven singled to move Bowling to third. A balk allowed a run to score to make the score 3-1.
Swayze Waters walked and Scott McGee came through with a single just over the first baseman to bring in a run.
Breland Applewhite brought in the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Patriots struck for five runs in the third inning for an 8-3 advantage.
Joseph Queen reached on an error, and JoJo Tann reached base by beating the pitcher to the bag on a grounder to first.
Bowling singled to load the bases, and Hunter Owen singled in two runs. Uithoven followed with an RBI single.
Waters brought in a run with a safety squeeze play, and McGee brought in the final run of the inning with a double for a five-run Jackson Prep lead.
Tann extended the lead with a home run in the top of the fourth inning. Lamar followed with a run in the fifth inning.
Harrison reached base on a walk and came around on a hit by Moffett to left field to make the score 9-4.
Prep secured the lead, with three runs in the sixth inning.
Bowling walked and Owen reached base on an error, and Uithoven followed with a home run to left to bring in three runs for 12-4 lead.
Prep added five runs in the top of the seventh inning. Owen brought in two runs with a single and an error on the play allowed another Patriots' runner to cross the plate.
Uithoven finished the rally with another home run to cap the 13-run win.
Lamar, now 1-3 in district, will travel to Jackson to take on the Patriots in a district double-header on Thursday.
