Paul Goble is the recipient of the 2002-2003 D.P. and Ruby Self Scholarship for the fall and spring semesters at Meridian Community College.
The $1,000 award, established by Daniel P. Self Jr., is funded through the MCC Foundation.
Goble, a home-schooled student, is a member of the Mississippi All-State Youth Choir and the Madrigal Singers. He also is active in his church, playing in the hand bells choir and singing in the youth choir. He works part time at a local pharmacy.
Megan Lanterman, a Southeast High School graduate, is the 2002-2003 recipient of the Key Brothers Scholarship for the fall and spring semesters at Meridian Community College.
The $1,000 scholarship, established to honor aviators Al and Fred Key, is funded through the MCC Foundation.
Lanterman was president of the senior class and captain of the cheerleader squad. An All-American Scholar, she was selected for Who's Who Among American High School Students. Most recently, she was chosen as an MCC cheerleader.
A freshman at Meridian Community College, Brandi L. Clair, is the 2002-2003 Sallie Mae Bell Memorial Scholarship recipient for the fall and spring semesters.
Clair is planning a career in elementary education. The $1,000 award is funded through the MCC Foundation by an endowment established in 1998 to recognize Bell's 30-year contribution to education in Lauderdale County.
Clair is an honor graduate of Clarkdale High School. She was a cheerleader and a senior homecoming maid. She was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Breinne "Bree" Marie Magnusson has been selected as the 2002-2003 Beverly Barham Memorial Scholarship recipient for the fall and spring semesters at Meridian Community College.
The Beverly Barham Memorial Scholarship was established by the Dusty Club of Meridian in 1990. Since then, Beverly's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Barham of Hattiesburg, have continued to fund the award annually.
Magnusson, a graduate of Meridian High School, was a member of the Anchor Club, the MHS Safety Club, the Key Club and the Dusty Social Service Club. She is a volunteer for Special Olympics and Wesley House.
EL DORADO, Ark. Winnie Owen Davidson of El Dorado, Ark., has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy.
Davidson, who attends Parker's Chapel High School, was nominated for the national award by Sonya Feemster, academic counselor.
Davidson's name will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.
She is the daughter of Vickie J. Thompson of El Dorado and the late Jerry W. Davidson, formerly of Meridian, Miss. Her grandparents are the late Luke and Mary Lou Davidson, formerly of Walnut Grove, Miss., and Wayne Boothe and Betty Sayers both of El Dorado. She is the sister of Gail Goss, Connie Davidson and Jay Davidson, all of Walnut Grove.
LIVINGSTON, Ala. Judson Scott Byars of Philadelphia has been awarded a Trustee Scholarship to attend the University of West Alabama.
The award was based on academic achievement and leadership potential.
Byars, a graduate of Neshoba Central High School, plans to enter UWA this fall.
Bob Harmon of Meridian and Joe R. Mallard of Enterprise are among a group of College of Forest Resources students honored recently at Mississippi State University for academic, service and leadership accomplishments.
Harmon received the Sophomore Academic Achievement Award. Mallard received the Outstanding Undergraduate Award. The honors were presented at he annual banquet of the College of Forest Resources.
Harmon is the son of Gary and Becky Harmon and is a 2000 graduate of West Lauderdale High School.
Mallard is the son of Joe and Mary Mallard and is a 1997 graduate of Enterprise High School.
Pamela Jenkins of Meridian has been named a United States National Award Winner in English and All-American in Character and Citizenship by the United States Achievement Academy.
Jenkins, who attends Enterprise Elementary School, was nominated for the national awards by a teacher at the school.
Jenkins' name will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.
She is the daughter of Jerry and Kathy Jenkins of Meridian. Her grandparents are James and Notie Robinson of Meridian and Walter Jenkins of Crestview, Fla.
