MCC eighth after second round of NJCAA tourney

PHOENIX Meridian Community college was in eighth place after two rounds of the NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament.
The third round was completed on Thursday, but the results were not available by deadline.
MCC improved from 311 to 292 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 603. Shelton State (Ala.) Community College was leading the event with a 291-285 576, eight strokes ahead of Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College.
Former Northeast Lauderdale standout Clinton Hales led MCC with a 74-72 146, good enough for a 15th place tie.
The top 15 players and ties will be named to the All-Americateam after the four-round tournament.
MCC's Josh Martin is tied for 59th at 79-73 152, while Brandon Laird is at 78-75 153, Daniel Boles 82-72 154 and Cameron Hunt 80-77 157.
