Members of the Volunteer Auxiliary served more than 9,000 hours last year at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Currently with 35 members, the auxiliary recognized its members during a luncheon last month in celebration of National Volunteer Week.
Service awards were presented to the following members: Pansy Light, James Hayes, Thelma Buie, Elizabeth McCulley, Jewel Neal and Emma Griffin.
New volunteers recognized were: Polly Braham, Helen Blanks, Betty Sharman, June Estes, Georgene Garnett, Carolyn Jones, Kathi Barnard and Margarite Richardson.
Charter members of the auxiliary, which was founded in 1982, received anniversary gifts at the luncheon.
The auxiliary's activities include: sponsoring fund raisers that benefit a scholarship fund for Meridian Community College students; staffing the hospital information desk, assisting with hospital activities; delivering mail and flowers to patients; and helping with various community projects.
