50th anniversary
Jim and Nell Taylor celebrated their 50th anniversary Dec. 15, 2001. Family and friends attended a reception held at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jennifer Taylor. The reception was hosted by their children, Debbie Maxey and her husband, Robert, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jim Taylor and his wife, Jennifer, Laurie Cobb and her husband, Ivan, all of Meridian. Mrs. Taylor is the former Nell Cunningham of Meridian.
50th anniversary
Edward "Head" and Octavia Hubbard will celebrate their 50th anniversary Jan. 2, 2002. A reception, hosted by their daughter, will be held at a later date. The couple has three children, Edna Beatrice Hubbard of Lauderdale, the late Edward "Jap" Hubbard Jr. and George Ralph Hubbard of Russell; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hubbard, the former Octavia Brown, is the daughter of the late Jessie B. Whitsett of Porterville and the late Luther Brown of East St. Louis, Ill. Mr. Hubbard is the son of the late Loris Hubbard and Daniel Hubbard of Porterville.
100th birthday
The family of Edward Compton will host a 100th birthday celebration Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002. The event will be held from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Methodist Church in the Clarkdale Community. Family and friends are invited to attend. The family requests no gifts.
