Enterprise grabs Region 7-2A win

The Enterprise Bulldogs haven't had much to cheer about the past two weeks with a pair of losses, but what a difference a week makes. Enterprise collected 432 yards of total offense and forced six turnovers to take a key division win over Sumrall by a final score of 30-7.
On the Sumrall's second possession of the evening, the Bulldogs came up with the first of many turnovers on the night. Zeb Swain recovered a fumble for Enterprise that would later lead to a score for the hometown Bulldogs.
Kelly Jimmerson marched in from six yards out to bring the first points to the board for Enterprise. Michael Swancey added the PAT perfectly as Enterprise held a 7-0 lead with 45 seconds remaining in the first quarter of action.
Sumrall quickly came back on the following possession on a 45-yard pass by Jerry Bourne to put the visiting Bobcats in great shape for a score. The Bulldogs had different thoughts as Adam Simpson picked off a bad pass by Bourne to give Enterprise the football around the five yard line.
Enterprise put together a 12-play drive that was capped off by a 35-yard pass from Simpson to Jimmerson to extend the lead to 14-0 after the successful PAT with 6:29 left in the first half.
Sumrall came up with yet another big play on offense, but the feisty Bulldog defense foiled the drive. Bourne connected Alvin Robinson for a huge gain by the Bobcats, but Cory Irby stripped the football and recovered it to give the Bulldogs possession once again.
The Bobcat defense held Enterprise to a rare stop and forced the punt. On the opening play of the drive Bourne hit Jacoby Rawis for a 75 -yard touchdown pass to give the Bobcats a little momentum.
Bourne also added the extra point for Sumrall as Enterprise held a 14-7 lead at the halftime break.
The Bulldogs opened up the second half by recovering yet another fumble. Swain got the recovery for Enterprise which led to another touchdown. Jimmerson did the honors for the Bulldogs by scoring from 31 yards make the score 20-0 after a failed PAT with 5:36 left in the third quarter of play.
Enterprise continued to put the pressure on the Bobcats as Sumrall committed another costly turnover. Irby picked off a bad pass for an interception that set up a 31-yard field goal by Swancey to give Enterprise a 23-7 lead with 2:11 left in the third period.
Swain finished off his wonderful night for the Bulldogs by scoring a touchdown on an interception from 17 yards out to lead Enterprise to a big division win. Swain also had six tackles on defense for the Bulldogs and Colter Cannington also had six tackles in the victory.
Enterprise improved to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in division play. Enterprise will travel to Taylorsville next week for a very important division showdown with the Tarters.
