OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, AUG. 27, 2001

EDWIN ISSAC THOMPSON

Graveside services for Edwin Issac Thompson will be held today at 2 p.m. at Tucker Cemetery wit the Rev. Odell Powell officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson, 81, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was a veteran of World World II, serving in Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred R. Thompson of Meridian; a daughter, Ouida Abrams of Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Lisa Stephens of Meridian and Amanda Barrick of Philadelphia; a sister, Louvinia McMillian of Perry, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Kay Thompson.

Graveside services for John Evans Gilbert Jr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Horel officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gilbert, 89, of Meridian, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the VFW, 464th Quarter Master Laundry Company and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46.
Survivors include his wife, Katheline Elisabeth Roberts Gilbert of Meridian; three sisters, Mary Belle Crigler of Columbus, Helen Triplett of Dallas and Dixie C. Pigford of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Gilbert and Lillie McCormick Gilbert.
BILLY D. BROGAN
Retired
Services for Billy D. Brogan will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Dabbs and Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Brogan, 76, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. Mr. Brogan was employed part-time with Bill Ethridge Lincoln-Mercury. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, and a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Brogan of Meridian; three sons, John Douglas Brogan, Billy Thomas "Tommy" Brogan Sr. and his wife, Carolyn Gayle, all of Meridian, and Jackie Stephen Brogan and his wife, KayCee, of Grenada; a brother, Charles Brogan, three sisters, Dorothy Bradford, Barbara Holifield and Mary Parker, all of Laurel; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
ERIC EUGENE BROWN
Services for Eric Eugene Brown will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Chislom officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Brown, 30, of Meridian, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, in his home. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and the American Coalition of Amputees. Mr. Brown formed the local support group for Meridian amputees and was active in establishing facilities for the handicapped in the surrounding area.
Survivors include his mother, Jo Carol Brown, his father, Gene Brown, his grandmother, Bessie Beeson and two uncles, Glenwood Martin and Joe Beeson, all of Meridian; six aunts, Caroline Moulds of Jackson, Diane Pennard and Sherry Toole, both of Macon, Ga., Lois Pipkin, Pauline Caraway and Ester Northam, all of Meridian.
Pallbearers will be Mark Williams, Terry Walker, David Raley, Dion Page, Jerry Moulds, J.E. Dennard, Steve Martin and Brad Caraway.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
SAMMIE ADAMS
Graveside services for Sammie Adams will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in the House Community with the Rev. Seibert Killen officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Adams, 105, of the House Community, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
DARLENE M. DANIELS
Winn-Dixie deli employee
Services for Darlene M. Daniels will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Father Robert Jerry Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Ms. Daniels, 41, of Bailey, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, in Meridian. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her parents, Bill and Dot Daniels of Bailey; a son, Robert Izzett of Charlotte, S.C.; and a brother, Gregory Daniels and his wife, Annette, of Bailey.
Visitation will be today from from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
GLENDA J. SINGLETON
Arrangements were incomplete at Milling Funeral Home of Union for Glenda J. Singleton who died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
