Lady Eagles of Sumter drop second game of year

The Sumter Academy Lady Eagles dropped a one-point decision Saturday to Lowndes Academy to fall to 12-2 on the year.
The Lady Eagles fell behind 38-33 at the end of the third quarter before eventually losing 47-48.
Lowndes (13-2) was led by Katie Blair with 17 points. Rebekah Eugerton added 13 and Emily Insinga scored 12.
Amanda Chambless and Natalie Fox led Sumter with 14 points each.
Sumter Academy boys 57, Lowndes 47: The Eagles took a 10-point win over Lowndes Academy Saturday behind the sharp shooting of Shane Martin.
Martin led all scorers with 21 points.
Sumter led 14-9 at the end of the first period and took a 31-26 advantage at the break.
Newton County Academy boys 55, Immanuel 42: Newton County Academy got off to a slow start against Immanuel Saturday but still took a 13-point win.
Jason Frith led the Generals with 15 points. Daniel Champion and Kyle Chaney each added 12.
Kemper Academy girls 41, Central Academy 33: Kemper Academy knocked off arch-rival Central Saturday to improve to 11-10.
Alicia Dufour and Jen Myers each scored 12 points to lead Kemper.
Margaret McClure led the Lady Vikings in the Division 3-A loss with 20 points.
Kemper Academy boys 66, Macon Central 43: Kemper led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and 32-21 at halftime as it beat Central Saturday.
Eddie Keaton led the Rams, who improved to 14-4, with 14 points. Ty Harbour added 11.
Ken Hailey scored 17 points to led Central. Tyler Huerkamp added 11.
Morton boys 52, Sebastopol 50: Sebastopol jumped out to a 29-16 lead at halftime, but it wasn't enough as Morton came on in the second half to win the Scott County Tournament.
Elijah MacDonald and Andrew Lewis, who was named the tournament MVP, each scored 14 points to pace Morton in the win. Ralph Peterson added 13.
Sebastopol was led by Sylvester Snow with 23 points and Byrean Fountain with 10.
Lake girls 56, Forest 41: The Lady Hornets won the Scott County Tournament with the 15-point win over the Lady Bearcats Saturday.
Roxana Rogers, who earned tournament MVP honors for the girls, led Lake with 21 points.
Kelly Boutwell and Patsy McKee each scored nine to lead the Lady Bearcats in a losing effort.
