Single-vehicle crash results in Franklin County fatality

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 14 has claimed the life of a Vina woman.

Chasity J. Gresham, 24, was fatally injured when the 2008 GMC Sierra she was driving left the roadway, overturned, and then struck a tree. Gresham was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger in the GMC Sierra, Annabelle G. Upton, 25, of Vina, was injured and transported to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 19 near the 31 mile marker, approximately two miles north of Vina, in Franklin County. Nothing further is available as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
